Has a President ever refused to leave office if they lost an Election ?

The answer to this question this has never happened in the history of elections in the United States.

There was a President that had several terms in office Franklin D Roosevelt who held office more than two terms. It was actually this President that made the Supreme Court change the laws on how many terms a President could serve. Though Franklin D Roosevelt was elected by the people every election he still is the only President to hold the office longer than two terms.

There has never been an election that a President lost and refused to leave office!

If Donald Trump does lose the 2020 election to Joe Biden officially his Presidency would end on January 20th 2021.

In the Constitution it is spelled out in Article Two in the Twentieth Amendment that the Presidency will end on noon of January 20th. It also states that no president can hold the office more than Two terms.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN:

So several things could happen.

On January 20th 2021 at 12 noon the title of President expires for Donald Trump.

He would lose complete control over the Military, Secret Service, anmed Federal Agencies that would protect him.

So one option for the new President would be to force Donald Trump out of the office using any or all of these agencies.

At this point Donald Trump would be considered a normal citizen that could be arrested, prosecuted, and even arrested for Trespassing on the White House Property.

If Donald Trump could prove the Election was rigged what would happen?

All Elections have some flaws nothing is perfect so the first step for Donald Trump would to be to prove the election was rigged.

THESE ARE THINGS HE WOULD HAVE TO PROVE:

1. Signs of voter fraud, like for instance if there was an area of votes that outnumbered the registered voters or population in that area.

2. Sings of voter fraud like much higher votes in a particular area than normally would not have that many votes.

3. Signs of voter fraud like more votes than actual ballots issued.

4. Signs of voter fraud like the results do not calculate correctly.

5. Signs of voter fraud like a longer delay of results in particular area.

WHAT ELSE THEY COULD POSSIBLY DO:

Donald Trump and the Republican Party could ask for a recount, and verification on votes and ballots.

This would involve multiple agencies getting involved and would have to be done before the official end of the Presidency on January 20th 2021.

If Donald Trump could prove the election was rigged what would happen next?

There is no guidelines or anything mentioned in the Constitution about this subject so it is uncharted territory.

It may be possible a RE ELECTION WOULD HAVE TO HAPPEN.

No Matter what happens it could be a new and uncharted future here in america.
