Transformers may be found at Hammond or Mouser Electronics. They must be able to deliver at least 10 Amps to charge a lead acid battery.
This project is an Automatic Trickle Charger that uses an adjustable cutoff. The cutoff is a potentiometer that you can use to determine when the charger drops the charging amperage from 10 amps to a trickle charge.
