What I just told Rock the Vote

in empowerment •  8 years ago  (edited)

I got an email from Rock the Vote today. Something about voting. I'm not sure, I didn't read it, I just went to the bottom and hit the unsubscribe button. When they asked me why, I gave this as my reason:

This election is a sham. It doesn't even attempt to claim legitimacy; it's based entirely on getting people to comply out of fear of what will happen if they don't. I'm done being afraid. I'm ready to take back my right to self-determination and fix my own world, rather than asking a government that views me as a consumable resource to fix it for me. I'm done voting; it's time to start doing.

Join me, Steemians, and take your power back. Let's build a better world together.

Btw, if you weren't able to make it to SteemFest, neither was I! But I encourage you to join me at Voice and Exit this weekend. I'd love to see you there! If you decide to go, make sure and buy tickets via this link and use promo code NATHANHOURT to get 20% off!

Politics does seem to be largely driven by fear these days. We need to bring back hope and build bridges, not walls.

I would have had a similar statement with slightly different colour....but definitely the same message.

100% agree. However, most didn't know that Hillary was about to start a nuclear war and we could all be nuclear ash right now. Thank god people voted for Trump and the electoral college was determined, or else... it could have all been over folks.
