How DxChain keep the privacy of users

In this modern era where digital technology is spreading everywhere and the tremendous amount of data which is being generated by sensors, smart phones and other electronic devices is so huge that a big data storage and fast computing for analyses is required to trade and analyse that data. DxChain is world’s first decentralized big data and machine learning network that provides its user a platform for data storage, trading and data analytics.

Data analytics provides lot of information related to trends, infer results and can be used to improve advertisements and everyday problems. When data is shared between databases for analytics, the amount of information available is greater, which increases the chance of query multiple datasets and data leakage. To overcome this, the DxChain team uses obfuscation techniques so that it is not possible to gather private information associated with individual users if queries are made. DxChain Network take into account privacy from the five aspects listed below.

Data Model Enabled Privacy Preserving. The DxChain Network enables client to encrypt columns containing private or sensitive data such as SSN by supporting data models for structured datasets before submitting their data to the network. The columns to be analysed should not be encrypted. The reason is quite straightforward encrypted data must be decrypted before any computation is executed on it so computation will not be able to perform on encrypted data. For binary datasets, such as MP3, clients should encrypt the entire file.

Differential privacy works by adding a level of noise to data at the point of collection. Once large amounts of data from large volumes of users is collected, statistical analysis is then used to see the patterns through the noise. It’s impossible to tell who was the source of any particular piece of data but the frequency, popularity and other meta-information about that data becomes usable. For statistical analysis DxChain Network provides a tool that facilitate the user in running differential privacy before submitting files to the network. After differential privacy is run, queries will not make sense since the entries have been modified via the addition of noise.

Miner Storage Encryption. Before a file is copied to a storage miner, it is encrypted using the public key of the miner. This could protect its security through the traffic on the network. The data piece is also encrypted through using a storage miner public key in each local machine. Doing this protects against intrusion from network hackers as they do not know the private key of the miner.

Small Piece File. A large file is split into many small pieces using different techniques, as only gaining access to a small data of a big file would not disclose much information.

The rule of thumb in DxChain Network is that if clients desire for their data to be stored privately, they must encrypt their data before submitting them to the network.
