Like any other day, preparing a refreshing juice of Maracuyá (or Parchita as we know it here), I look closely at the pulp of that fruit that makes me think of its popular name: "Passion Fruit".
I asked myself: What is the cause?, and then several hypotheses.
Could it be that its intense color represents the energy of that feeling?, or is it the aroma that envelops us in the essence of passion?, or is it perhaps the acidity of its flavor that reminds us that in the vehemence of life everything is so sweet?.
Despite all the similarities that I tried to find poetically, I took on the task of investigating the "real" reason. Well, reading a little here and there I have found that the name does not come directly from the fruit but from its flower. -Bahh!, How could it not have occurred to me?-
It turns out that it is a purple flower, broad and very striking, known as "Pasionaria".
Its appearance is similar to a crown of thorns and the Spanish colonizers to see it, related their elements with those used in the Crucifixion of Jesus and baptized the passion fruit as the "Fruit of the Passion." Source
I see that, beyond the lustful meaning that I speculated, the subject itself refers to passion as a biblical definition used to represent hardship and suffering in those supposed episodes, which reminds me and makes me share the lesson of the day:

At the end of all this, the juice has been delicious!😋
