Nowadays greetings like 'Good afternoon' are throw away remarks....does the person really mean what they are saying? The cashier at the check out is trained to say 'Have a nice day' repeatedly to every customer. It would be better if they changed their greeting each time....it would show that they are thinking about what they were saying.
