I like this photo, and I like the girl in it. Wait… that probably sounded weird. Or did it? It’s funny how much resistance there is around talking ourselves up, or even just choosing to focus on the things we actually love about ourselves. For most people, it feels unnatural. We’ve spent years joking around about our shortfalls, calling ourselves names both out loud, and inside the thoughts we choose to think. We focus on why we can’t do certain things, why we’re incapable of building a life we could truly fall in love with every day, instead of investing our energy into the reasons we COULD.
The girl in this photo takes risks. She dreams big dreams and believes they’re not only possible, but probably. She has learned how to speak her truths and not worry (too much… I’m still human) about other people’s opinions. Or at least not enough to let it stop her.
The girl in this photo is committed to learning, growing, and finding small and big things to be grateful for every single day. She’s learning what it takes to be truly compassionate towards herself and others, and let go of the things that she didn’t get right. She’s creative and passionate and for the most part, she’s happy.
What characteristics and personality traits do you love about yourself (and no, you don’t have to list them in third person cause that’s just lame). What unique qualities do you bring to the table? What lights you up? Write it down. Focus on it. Lead with it. Do that for long enough, and I promise you the things you choose to take on and the life you get to lead will change in unimaginable ways.
