In a nutshell, this book shared that if you were to have these 3 key elements, you’ll be successful in life.
Good philosophy to keep you grounded
Ability to bring value to as many people possible.
Lastly, improve yourself to the greatest potential.
Life is like basketball. There is a set of rules governing this game. As long as you play in accordance to the rule, the universe will be fair towards you as well.
Also, there are a couple of philosophy that one has to understand in order to achieve greater success. Besides application of philosophy, one must also improve through education.
The lesson that resonates with me best at this point of time will definitely be “compartmentalization”. Break down my tasks into 4 different boxes and see which are the urgent & important ones.
He also mentioned that when it comes to time management. It’s more important to do the right things than to do things right.
It’s 100% possible to manage many tasks at once.
If you’re working, focus 100% on your job. If you’re studying after work, give your 100% In that we well. As compared to being distracted all the time.
Besides that, another topic that impacted me was the difference between advice and opinion.
Advice is from someone who is an expert. Whereas Opinion can be from anyone. Now that I have learned this, I am able to differentiate the differences and filter thoughts that enters my mind.
Something that I am trying to apply immediately will be the one touch/one command rule - Instilling the discipline in me. When I give myself one command, I’ve to execute it. No excuses.
I’ll definitely reread this book but for now, these were the key takeaways that I had.
