USA just got one step further to a nationwide hydrogen fuel network

I have written on this topic before. Because I'm invested in the company that will build the electrolyzers and accompanying equipment necessary for local production of green hydrogen.

The news

Yesterday Annehauser-Busch announced that they will purchase up to 800 trucks, replacing their truck fleet with fuel cell electric trucks.

A-B, of course recognized as the brewery behind Budweiser and other refreshments.

“At Anheuser-Busch we’re continuously searching for ways to improve sustainability across our entire value chain and drive our industry forward,” said Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “The transport industry is one that is ripe for innovative solutions and Nikola is leading the way with hydrogen-electric, zero-emission capabilities. We are very excited by the possibilities our partnership with them can o er.”

“Hydrogen-electric technology is the future of logistics and we’re proud to be leading the way,” added Trevor Milton, CEO of Nikola Motor Company. “Anheuser-Busch has a long history of investing in progressive, sustainable technology and we are excited to partner with them to bring the largest hydrogen network in the world to the USA. By 2028, we anticipate having over 700 hydrogen stations across the USA and Canada. With nearly 9 billion dollars in pre-order reservations, we are building to order, not speculation, and are very excited for what’s to come.”

Side note

I just got this flashback to Young Einstein reading this. For those who remember the "splitting of beer atoms". Splitting of water molecules is another matter, but it's a fun analogy

I don't expect everyone to remember that film 😝

Anyway, by 2020, it should be possible to get beer with a significantly smaller carbon footprint. 👣

Back to reality

Building a nationwide, economically viable network if fueling stations is a monsterous task and requires scale. Scale that the likes of Aneheuser-Busch is able to provide.
