Now that the final contribution period for EOS has ended and the ERC20 snapshot is underway, we can take a look at the distribution of EOS tokens for all registered accounts.
How has the value been spread?
Quick Stats
Some very quick analysis shows some interesting results...
Metric | Figure | Approx USD value @ $12 each |
---|---|---|
Addresses (Registered) | 163,928 | $11,960,287,878 |
Addresses (Unregistered) | 19,588 | $39,614,912 |
Mean | 6,080.1 EOS | $72,961 |
25% (up to 40,982 accounts) | 22.2 EOS | $266 |
50% (up to 81,964 accounts) | 102.0 EOS | $1,224 |
75% (up to 122,946 accounts) | 451.7 EOS | $5,420 |
95% (up to 155,731 accounts) | 4,302.4 EOS | $51,624 |
("25%" means the 25th percentile, or the first 25% of the data when sorted)
So, loosely speaking, about 1 in 4 people (or more correctly, accounts) have less than $266 worth of EOS registered, and half of everyone participating in the ICO has less than $1,224. I think that nicely shows the range and benefit that the 12-month long ICO had on the community - everyone got a chance to put some funds in.
In the future it should be possible to track how these funds move on the blockchain.
How do you think the distribution will change?
Notes
Its very late and my apologies if there is a mistake: please let me know.
