we gotta get a proposal together for voting in more BP's / token. This limitation of 30 bp's isn't cutting it for me. I know the number 50 has been passed around, but why not every paid BP position that is available instead?

Personally, I like the idea of increasing this. But I’ve heard the argument that this would just enable there to be more sick puppets.

what if any unused votes are randomly used to select random bp's to increase diversity randomly, and prevent minimum whale vote hoarding and circle jerk vote buying.

There are 20 full-time witnesses, producing a block every 63-second round. A 21st position is shared by backup witnesses, who are scheduled proportionally to the amount of stake-weighted community approval they have. Witnesses are compensated with STEEM Power for each block they create.[2]
So the 21st spot rotates

That's the thing I really didn't like about Bitshares... ZERO fucking marketing. It fell flat on it's face inside an echo chamber of participants all beating their own drum inside a closed loop system. Tough getting new people to adopt the unknown
Steemit... They don't advertise much either do they?
EOS will not have that problem. It's a self promoting system that develops ideas outside of eos.
The main topic was about amount of BPs, payments etc.

You could do the Telos thing and inverse the weight until 30 votes are received (for instance). That kinda encourages the voting. When there's REX too you'll be "compensated" for staking so that may help also (if I'm not misunderstanding the suggested implementation of the REX). BUT regardless it's gonna be tough for anyone to get familiar even with the 30 even with 10.
I'll not sure about having a randomization of votes left over. That night just really not do much, you see that preventing the circle jerk voting (as you suggested?).
What if, EOS rewards given to BP's could some how be excluded from voting? That's a random idea I just had
