Why Hardfork 19 (The "Equality Fork") Could Make a Newbie's Vote Worth $0.01 or More

This will radically even the playing field and dramatically increase demand for STEEM and SP - IMO

Here's the math I'm referring too:

Based On This:

Here's my rough extrapolation:

Let's pretend the current price of STEEM is $1.00 (for convenience sake) so that 1 STEEM = 1 SBDs. And remember... new user's now get +145.196 STEEM delegated to their account upon creation.

5000 SP = 0.25 SBD vote
500 SP = 0.025 SBD vote
145 SP = 0.007 SBD vote

Now... if you factor in the voting impact change (a 100% vote will be 4 times more powerful), then I think it's safe to assume that a newbie's vote will be worth at least $0.01 and maybe even $0.02

How awesome will it be if all Steemians can give their 2 cents!

Disclaimer

I may be wrong lol - I'm not an expert. But at the very least, I do believe this is a step towards equality.

Yes exactly. That would make a big difference. Sign up and immediately ur vote is worth a tiny amount. Even more important of they add $1000 and power up they will immediately see their influence grow. I have 47k steem. Being able to give people a few $ would be amazing feeling to me.

I have met some of the most amazing folks on here -- and yes, you kind folks have shared steem. I feel so official when they put it in my account :)

Thanks for looking out for the new folks and making a difference by sharing with them.

The HF will mean a more powerful vote, but it won't be 4 times more powerful, at least not in terms of price.

It will be 4x more powerful in terms of the number of rshares you're contributing to the post, but that won't result in 4x the payout because other voters are contributing a lot more rshares as well. The size of the reward pool isn't changing, so when more rshares are chasing the same about of money, the value of those rshares decrease. Henceforth, you're contributing 4x the rshares per vote, but those rshares do not result in 4x the payout.

How much the value of a vote will increase is hard to figure out. It will be less than 4x, but more than it is now. My best guess would be somewhere around 2x. That's assuming all else remains equal. Will the no-vote-for-whales pact stay around or will that go away with the new rewards curve? If whales start voting again, we might even see a drop in the amount our vote is worth.

Here's a good post from 8 months ago explaining the upcoming changes (although, I don't agree with everything he says). https://steemit.com/steem-help/@sigmajin/the-tale-of-the-5-brothers-a-voting-power-parable

Thank! I tried to take this into consideration but I guess we won't really know till after.

@abit posted this a week ago which makes me think that the whale pact will end:

https://steemit.com/steem/@abit/whales-no-voting-experiment-will-end-after-hard-fork-19

It would be a fork that I would love to see! I did notice that once there is a lot of votes, my redfish little vote appears to have a bit more power behind it. Or it could just be 10 others clicking at the same time -- must perform more experiments to find out :)

Thank you for sharing.

Yeah, right now... the more votes a post gets... the more each of the votes is worth. But that will no longer be the case after this hardfork

oooo...this will be interesting.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. People with little to no following or all newbies will make almost nothing. Could see $20 post go to $2.00 I kinda of would like for them to just leave things alone for awhile.

All good points, but I said interesting, not positive. Maybe they will release a quick hardfork if the flow is all wrong.

You are really on top of a lot of things Dan. The more I read and listen to your stuff, the more I like you.

I appreciate your work and support and those TM shades of yours.

(:

I have about 1400 Steem Power and my vote is about 2 cents when Steem is up over $1

Let hope they do this hardfork without killing the rewards pool and it taking a month and the doubling of the Price of Steem to get back to good levels.

Yeah lol, I don't think that will be the case this time but this blockchain is full of surprises

When is this hardfork happening again? So if it wont be based on the more votes it gets the more its worth what will it be based on? People who have more SP?

I don't think it's scheduled yet. And right... the value of your vote will be based on how much SP you have and it doesn't matter if the post you're voting on gets a lot of votes or not. The upside is that everyone's single vote will be worth significantly more.

That makes sense, thanks Dan. I believe this will help out the other unknown posts get traction. Right now it's worth it to jump into a post with numerous votes "just to make money". This will be much fairer and people will vote on what they actually "want" vs "what will make them more" this is a GOOD thing!

I think its only worth it to jump in to a post with a lot of votes right now if 1. you get in early, or 2. you have a lot of SP... I might have that wrong but i'm learning every day ;)

That's exactly right, so most people just go for the ones that "look" like they are going to get a lot of votes, guilty here also :) , I think this new method will help balance things out tremendously and get the REALLY good articles the right attention.

Thank you for you reply.
