I AM A WOMAN

I hold no grudge
Against any gender
But don't maltreat me
Because I am tender

I won't want anything
That I will not enjoy
I won't let anything
Take away my joy

As a woman
An education I must get
So I won't sit home waiting
Like the furniture set

But then he tells me to quit my job
Just because he earns more
If I refuse
I was the one who called for war

If I don't look good
He'll look away
And when I try to
He'll blame me for delay

You said you married me for my brains
And now you say I'm proud
"You're a woman! And so
Don't make your thoughts loud"

I'll never let my guards down
Just for peace to reign
Cause my honour and respect
That's what I stand to gain

I am a woman,
That I've accepted
I am a woman,
I've never rejected
I'm not asking to be worshipped
I'm asking to be respected!

EQUALITY

The dream of every society
That has never been fulfilled
The desire of every human
That is yet to be realized
Hmmmm….equality sha

But can we ever be equal?
What will happen to the gaps between Global South and North?
What will happen to the relationship between the haves and have-nots?
Can there ever be gender equality?
Maybe not yet in Africa
Academic equality nko?
Then there will be no Student-Teacher relationship again
Relationship nko
That means emotional market will be free for all

But all thanks to fundamental Human rights
That has brought us all under the umbrella of equality
Now it does not matter
Either you are a Doctor or Professor
We all have equal right to life

But upon all the rights that make us equal
To every right there is limitation
Irrespective of temptation
So is there really equality?
Maybe I don’t know
Or I am just confused.
But really, are we really equal?
