The thing that people really need to understand is that obsession with equality of outcomes, despite being impossible, is incompatible with human freedom.
I don't know how anybody got through a high school level training in statistics expecting that gathering data and dividing your subjects into groups would show equal results between groups.
Especially when you're dealing with human beings, we behave differently as individuals. If people are afforded the liberty to behave as individuals, you'll get different results.
There's an added problem of how narrowly you divide groups and which aspects of inequality you're willing to accept. Are we going to say that we've achieved gender equality when the wage gap between me and women goes to zero while men still die on the job thirteen times more often? Do we need to wait to declare victory until every gender fluid person is equal, too? How about black trans people under five feet tall? As Ayn Rand said, "The smallest minority is the individual." If every individual needs to be equal, that's what we call communism.
The only way to work toward equality of outcome is to allow select overlords to engineer human behavior. Otherwise, people will keep going to liberal arts colleges instead of going into STEM and we'll see disparities.
