I think that it would be better to actually use the platform and see for yourself whether it has any benefits. Steemit offers Steem and Steem Dollars as currencies. The proof that Steemit is legit is that you and I are using it. It has value and a practical use case. I am more into the practical aspects and making cryptos useful versus trying to bank on getting rich if their value goes up. At this point, we already have too much speculation in the cryptocurrency market.
