The resurrection as a spiritual concept sounded strange to the ears of the pagans and especially to the Greeks; when Paul preached on this subject in Athens, it was cause for laughter among the philosophers of the city (Acts 17:18-20). That is why the apostle Paul dedicates especially to explain this theme to the first christians in his first epistle to the Corinthians.
The faith in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus is one of the main foundations of the doctrine of the Kingdom of Heaven: "And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith" 1 Corinthians 15:14.
Jesus himself said when he resurrected his friend Lazarus: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" in John 11:25-26.
The resurrection is the perfect immortality, that is to say, immortality with immutability, it is reviving to never die, as explained to us Thomas Aquinas.
Jesus in the doctrine of the kingdom of God is the son of man, Jesus is the personification of God's perfection. We are all subject to death by sin, but in Jesus this did not happen, in Jesus there was no sin. God is perfect and we cannot attribute imperfections to God like error or sin.
Without the doctrine of the resurrection, Jesus is a simple person and not the "son of man", and the whole Church, the communion of believers with Jesus as his head, loses its link with the divine, because in this case, the disciples become false witnesses.
Thus, the apostle Paul continues the explanation of the doctrine: "For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied" 1 Corinthians 15:16-19.
Eschatological hope is sustained in the divinity of Jesus: "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep" 1 Corinthians 15:20.
