In a huge demonstration of support for the conservation of this species, which is now threatened with extinction in India, a tiger, more than 70 cars drove onto the roads in New Delhi to raise awareness of the need to save the tiger. The event ran from the Constitution Club to the Taj Palace Hotel, and the drivers were members of parliament who pledged to contribute to raising this awareness.
The rally, designated TSD (time, speed and distance), was announced by the Vice President of India Hamid Ansari, and Agatha Sangma, the youngest deputy in the UPA-II office, received the title of the best women racer, and the best Pair of drivers honorary title went to Anekantu and Nishikantu Dubey. This was conceived by a joint venture between the Constitutional Club of India (CCI) and JK Tire Industries Ltd, who believe that the goal is to provide India with invaluable service and the preservation of wildlife in general.
This is an extremely positive step towards solving a real threat; the number of tigers has reportedly dropped sharply from 40,000 registered at the beginning of the 20th century to about 1,700 today, with illegal poaching being the main factor contributing to this. As the national animal of India, the loss will be felt on many levels, and full prevention is part of the purpose of the rally, otherwise the goal is to collect politicians on a single basis.
The attraction of tigers has a huge impact on the tourism industry, as many thousands of people come to see unique animals every year.
