172 harmful apps in the Play Store

Experts discovered 172 harmful programmed apps in the Google Playstore last September. These apps have been downloaded more than 1 crore 5 lakhs times. Researchers at the cyber security firm Asset reported this.

Asset researcher Lucas Stefanco said the adware was found in 172 harmful apps on the Google Playstore. These adware can be installed on the device and do lots of harm to the user, including theft. Cyber-rogue can exploit these harmful apps and make money.

Stefanco says, 'The popular category of showing unwanted ads or adware now is that after installing the app, the banking sector does not need any more input like Trojan virus. These adware makers start to take money from the beginning. These adware are easy to create. As a result, instead of creating Trojan or ransomware, cyber-criminals are getting behind creating such malicious apps. Downloading these apps spreads various subscription scams, and costs like SMS Premium subscriptions continue to cost.

After deleting the information about these malicious apps, it has been removed.

Last month, Google removed 46 apps made by Chinese app maker Ihendi from Google Playstore.

Earlier, researchers at cyber security firm CSIS said that malware or malicious programs could spread to some apps on Google Playstore. They said that Google has detected a malicious malware named 'Joker' in 24 apps on the PlayStore. The malware has spread to about five million devices. If these apps are installed on your Android set, they may end up accidentally losing money without stealing personal information.

The Joker silently communicates with various ad-free websites and receives various information about the device, including SMS, contact list from mobile.
