The popular drink in Ternate is water guraka or ginger water. In the evenings, a lot of guraka water sellers - especially in the coastal area. Ginger water does warm the body, in addition also prevents colds. The guraka water vendors also provide a variety of snacks such as fried bananas, roasted corn, and instant noodles.
Water guraka only water ginger with coconut sugar, then sprinkled with walnuts. This tradition is similar to the French tea-drinking tradition of adding some roasted pine nuts into tea. The crunchy texture of walnuts and pestos makes this drink more fun.
