Since when did Israel tame camels for transportation needs? This question invites debate among researchers and archaeologists, in which literary and biblical history mentioned prophets and guardians using camel vehicles.

But archaeological studies estimate that camels were not domesticated in Israel until the year 2000 to 1500 BC, around the time of the Kingdom of Prophet David.

These findings, of course, contradict the biblical content that tells the camel as a means of transporting the prophets, while the direct evidence expressed in the ancient text is very clear.

Dr Erez Ben and Dr. Lidar Sapir from Tel Aviv University's Department of Archaeology and Near Eastern Cultures examine when the Israelites first tamed camels in the Southern Levant region using radiocarbon dating.

The findings are published in the Tel Aviv journal which emphasizes differences of opinion between biblical texts and historical verification.

In that penetration, radiocarbon dating estimated the Israelites to tame the camels from the 12th to the 9th century BC.

According to Dr Ben, the introduction of camels in Israeli territory is the beginning of economic and social development, because the impact is very important for the progress of the city.

From a sample analysis of archaeological evidence and findings of a copper production site in the Aravah Valley, they estimate the early date of tame camels.

Prior to this time, the camels that Israel used were from outside territory, no special farms tamed the camels until early in 1500 BC.

Most camels were domesticated in the Arabian Peninsula for use as animal carriers until near the end of the 2nd century BC.

While in the Southern Levant region, the oldest camel bones belong to the Aravah Valley that stretches along the Israeli and Jordanian borders. Archaeological studies in 2009 mentioned, along the Dead Sea to the Red Sea is the center of ancient copper production.

The Aravah valley is thought to be a copper smelting camp where camel bones have been discovered, age from the 11th to the 9th century BC.

During the excavation site, most of the findings of camel bone are from the 10th century BC or according to the Bible according to the period of the Kingdom of David.

But some of the other camel's bones are thought to be wild camels, so archaeologists predict the origin of the camel's bone from the Neolithic period.

On this site only found camel bones scattered and none found the building site in it.

A pet cam in the Aravah valley appears to coincide with a dramatic change in the local copper operating system.

History at that time estimated the closure of copper mines and smelting.

Some workers are still active and centralized to use newer technology according to archaeological evidence.

According to them, the Egyptian people may have made great changes and brought the camels after conquering the territory of Israel. This military offensive is also mentioned in Egyptian and Biblical texts.

According to Dr Ben and Dr Sapir, the origin of tame camels as well as pets may originate from the Arabian Peninsula bordering the Aravah valley and be a logical entry point, in particular the farming and taming of camels in the Southern Levant.

And the first camels from the Arabian Peninsula may be buried in the Aravah Loire.

With the tame camels are also considered as trade promotion between Israel and other countries that are affordable by road travel.

Camels can travel long distances rather than donkeys, until the 7th century BC trade routes stretching from Africa through Israel to India. This route is regarded by researchers as the key to the history of economic and social change, especially in the time of David's Kingdom.
