How to reset a lost or forgotten password
Including accurate and up-to-date e-mail addresses and / or mobile numbers is the best step that can be taken to ensure you will not lose access to your account. Take a moment and make sure the email address and / or mobile number that you associate with the account is up to date.
How to change the password when you enter
From the account you entered, click the profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select Settings and privacy.
Click the Password tab.
Enter the current password.
Select a new password.
Save changes by clicking Save changes.
Note: If you can log in but don't remember the password, you can send a password reset email to your email address from the password settings page.
How to send a password reset to yourself via email
From the login page, both on twitter.com, mobile.twitter.com, or the Twitter application for iOS or Twitter for Android, click Forgot password?
Enter your email address, mobile number or Twitter username. If you have more than one account that is associated with a cellphone number, you cannot use a mobile number during this step.
Select the email address that will be used to receive the password reset email.
Check your email inbox. Twitter will immediately send a message to your account's email address.
Click the reset link in the email.
Select a new password.
Note: The link reset password listed in this e-mail has a time limit. If you click the link but the link doesn't work, try asking for a new link and use it as soon as possible.
How to send a password reset to yourself via SMS
If you have added a cellphone number to your account in the Mobile settings, you can receive a password reset via SMS / text message.
From the Forgot password? Page, enter your mobile number, email address, or Twitter username.
Enter your mobile number, then click Search.
Send code via SMS to my cellphone ending in [XX] will be displayed. Click Continue.
Twitter will send a six-digit code that will only be valid for 15 minutes.
Enter this code in the text field on the password reset page and click Send.
Next you are asked to choose a new password.
Note: Resetting passwords via SMS is not available for accounts registered with login verification. You can only reset your password via email.
Didn't receive the SMS code?
It may take several minutes to receive the code
If you don't receive the code after a few minutes, try typing HELP into the Twitter short code to ensure that you receive an SMS notification from Twitter. If you don't receive any reply, get help related to Twitter via SMS or use the password reset option via email.
Request additional information for password reset requests
If you frequently receive unsolicited password reset messages, you can request additional information to be entered to submit a password reset request:

Via Twitter.com, open your account settings.
In the Security section, check the box next to Request personal information to reset the password.
You will be asked to enter your account email address or cellphone number, to send a password reset email or SMS.
If your email address and mobile number are both linked to an account, you will be asked to enter both, before the email or SMS reset password can be sent
