Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Although it has been a while since I have played Destiny 2, I was excited to see the announcement of the upcoming DLC later this year before E3. I was also excited to see what it held and the discussions they were sharing with the community as it would be the first piece of content that they release after splitting ways with Activision. Even though the time since the split has been relatively short, you can see how Bungie has strived to make a difference in their decisions and pay more attention to what the community wants for the future of the destiny franchise. I believe that this will result in a better game in the long run for a community that has been anxious to get more out of the developers.

The Bungie team in addition to having a lifestream also released a new ViDoc called Out of the Shadows. In the releases, detail the new things coming to the Destiny universe which includes a free to play option for starting or returning players as well as a highly anticipated cross platform integration for players to move across platforms free freely. The free to play functionality will be called New Light and will return new players to missions from the original destiny one game in order to get acquainted with some of the lore and the gameplay mechanics before diving into more of the challenges that the game has developed.

Many details are still yet to be released but these additions will sure bring new players to the game and bring back players you have been gone for a while. The cross platform saves was a huge hit as many players have seen themselves interested in moving from consoles to PC and will now have the option to do so and even come back if they would like. The latest Raid showed that PC teams are really dominating the hardcore player base which seems that Bungie is working hard to please as they have officially said that they are seeking to become more MMO/RPG like in the coming content releases.

The new DLC will bring new content as well as a new destination which will be a return to a previous one from Destiny 1, the Moon. However, they mentioned that the Moon will have double the size than Destiny 1 as they evolved it into a more creepier type space. It will also mark the return of a mysterious character, Eris Morn which will lead the story this time. Lastly, they are revamping a number of interface items and gear for characters as they will now expand the amount of customization available for our loadouts. This includes the return of Artifacts which may eventually change in name but will expand the versatility of our options on how we decide to battle in the universe.

Personally, this is exciting as I hope it brings more players to the game, including my friends whom have gone to play other games which have left me not being interested in playing at all. In fact, this is probably the first time in a while I have been drawn back to play in order to prepare for the release of Shadowkeep on September 17 of this year!
