Tradional Indian wedding ceremony- South style

There are different languages and different religions in India that have a different culture, So their marriages styles are different. I'm going to tell you about a marriage like that. Marriage is a very festive celebration south India. Wedding ceremonies make people feel together and get acquainted with each other.

Above picture shows the occasion of engagement. Engagement is a ceremony that confirms a bride and a groom for marriage. On this occasion the bride & groom will exchange their rings.

A traditional welcome arch decorated on the wedding week at bride and grooms homes, the arch decorated with banana trees , coconut palms leaves, tender coconuts, Mango leaves, flowers and Neem leaves.

For the South Indian people, the spiritual symbols of a wedding are more important than all the luxury. They follows many follows the traditional wedding rituals. The bride wears 9 yard silk Saree, and the groom wears silk shirt and dhoti, they both sits in the Mandapam(wedding stage) the groom ties a holy thread to brides neck, while the Pandit tells mantras. Mean while musical instruments called 'Nadaswaram' to be played.

After the completion of the thread knotting rituals, the brides are invited to the reception hall while their relatives and visitors give them gifts and greetings.

Then the visitors will be given a feast of traditional food on banana leaf, the traditional food contains many items like Rice, dal, pickle, boiled vegetables, curd, rasam, payasam, vada, sweets cool drinks and ice cream.
