The white shark has a reputation as the most dangerous marine predator in Australia. But how do you know about these hunting animals? Here are some facts about the White Shark or 'Great White Shark'.

White sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) are marine predators found in temperate and sub-tropical waters, in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
Specifically, they are found off the coast of Australia starting from southern Queensland, around the coastline of the Bass Strait, to the North West Cape in Western Australia.

Listed as a protected species under the Convention on International Trade in Rare Flora and Wild Fauna (CITES), evidence shows that their numbers have declined as a result of human activities, including fishing and habitat degradation.

Celebrating World Wildlife Day, we present some facts you may not know about this frightening animal hunter.
