LAW OF SCIENCE VERSUS LAW OF NATURE

Introduction

I should think that every person is Scientific in nature by the virtue of the fact that, we all must have done Science at a certain stage of our lives. It could be basic science, elementary science, natural science or even social science just like the one we are doing right now on Steemit.com. You really don’t need to have done Science in high school or at the University for you to be Scientific in nature, This only requires the ability for us to engage our mind, even an Infant can do this, it only requires a common sense. That sense that prompt a child to go for the mother’s breast immediately after birth.

However we cannot always rely on the information processed by this so-called common sense, this draw a distinct line between what we perceived and how Science sees things around us. Some of the concept in Science could be very difficult to conceptualize or digest by Science Learners. My main aim is for the love and study of Science to grow so that the world would be a better place to live in. The world around us is changing by means of Science and Technology, Hence Human and Animals alike were forced to respond to the change. Science has exploited nature so much that the Human nature forcefully breathe Science, eat Science, live Science and love Science, unfortunately we cannot kill Science. The contribution of Science to the existence of men is like a double edge sword, there are both positive and negative impact. While the positive impact are so enormous, we cannot overlook the aftermath of Science itself.
Learners and Student alike must be encouraged to study Science and activate their thinking faculty so as to discover more on the work done by the Fore-Fathers of Science like Newton, Einstein, Snell, Darwin, etc just to mention a few. The onus does not only lie on the Educator or the Teacher who passes this information to the student but also to each individual who prefers a Samsung smart phone to a Nokia 3310 or a (Motorola Walkie talkie).

SCIENCE CHANGES EVERYTHING

Change is a great thing and it makes us feel brand new, Mahat Magandi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Change is one of mankind’s most mysterious
creations. The factors that operate to cause it came
into play when man produced his first tool. With it he
changed the world forever, and bound himself to the
artifacts he would create in order, always, to make
tomorrow better than today. But how does change
operate? What triggers a new invention, a different
philosophy, an altered society? The interactive
network of man’s activities links the strangest,
most disparate elements, bringing together the most
unlikely combinations in an unexpected ways to create a new world, that world for you and I.
Is there a pattern to change in different times and
separate places in our history? Can change be forecast?

How does society live with perpetual innovation
that, in changing the shape of its environment, also
transforms its attitudes, morals, values? If the prime
effect of change is more change, is there a limit beyond which we will not be able to go without anarchy, i sincerely think that time will tell.
Time is the only independent variable that does not change even when it changes, all other variables solely depends on it.

TIME CONCEPT

• As the saying goes “Time waits for no one” and this appears to be true, it makes us feel so comfortable that we are all moving at the same pace with time. Einstein in his publication of ‘The theory of special relativity’ insinuating that time does not march at the same pace for all of us, it all depends on a person’s velocity. This means that slow moving objects age more quickly than a fast moving object. But how can that be if the question of who is moving is of opinion? This long standing question about special relativity is called the twin paradox. Here Einstein assumes that if one in a set of twins travels in a spaceship to a distant star and returns. He would have accelerated to a high velocity and then coast for most of the journey. If the passage of time depends on velocity, then the twin who stays on Earth would have experienced one duration while the traveling twin would have experienced another slower duration. The traveling twin will return to Earth younger than his other brother. Einstein used the relative energy expression, time and length dilation to buttress his fact with complex calculations put in simple terms E=mc2. In the Time dilation theory, a clock in a moving frame will be seen to be running slow, or dilated according to Lorents transformation. The time will always be shortest as measured in its rest frame which is called proper time. This is where probably common sense will get lost over Science reality.

COMMON MISCONCEPTION IN SCIENCE

Even as of now it still appears that many of us still have doubting question as to how Science made us believe that all the planet including the Earth orbits around the sun and that the moon orbits around the Earth. The basic concept here is that, small object falls towards big object and since the Sun is the heaviest in our Solar system then all other planet falls towards it. So many Scientist have tried to use different concept to explain this phenomena, others using Newton’s Law Of Universal Gravitation, in symbol F = Isaac Newton, a scientist who resided in England around 300 years ago, was notably the first, to provide good explanation to unravel this mystery. He was widely known for his ability to answer some of the most difficult question of science in a more explicit and fascinating manner. He was very significant to the world around him during his period and his effort on science has gained so much recognition.

Then there is the question of, why don’t the Earth falls into the Sun if truly the Sun is pulling it closer? Instead the planets are moving sideways. Lets assume you have a weight around a string, by you swinging it around, you are constantly pulling it towards your hand just as the gravity of the Sun pulls all the other planet in, but the sideways motion keep the ball swinging around, without the sideways motion the ball falls to the center and without the pull to the center, the object will fly straight away.

MY CLASSROOM ACCOUNT

On a faithful Thursday morning a grade 10 pupil rushed to me after the assembly and said “Sir, would you please explain to me how come the PH of water changes as the temperature increases. Water has a pH value of 7 and I think it should maintain its value hot or cold.” I looked at this young chap and smiled because some how that is a question that should bother a Grade 12 Learner according to the Curriculum Assessment Policy. I immediately invited a brilliant Grade 12 Learner to join in the conversation. Her explanation was powerful and I was satisfied but the young chap was not. Her explanation was that Water is an Ampholyte - a substance that is able to act as an acid or a base, using the equation of Auto ionization of water to explain. She also talked about the properties of Acids and Bases mentioning that when water get boiled it burns and becomes an Acid.

THE IMPACT OF SCIENCE

Science and technology have had a major impact on society,and their impact is growing. By drastically changing our means of communication, the way we work, our housing, clothes, and food,our methods of transportation, and, indeed, even the length and quality of life itself, science has generated changes in the moral values and basic philosophies of mankind. Beginning with the plow, science has changed how we live and what we believe. By making life easier, science has given man the chance to pursue societal concerns such as ethics, aesthetics, education, and justice; to create cultures; and to improve human conditions. But it has also placed us in the unique position of being able to destroy ourselves.
It is imperative here to state whether the advancement of Science and Technology has done more harm to the Universe than good. However this will depend solely on the individual based on his or her perception.

CONCLUSION

The Science we do by nature or perhaps by brain storming is of course a premises to the study of the theorem, principles and the rule of law in science. More effort needs to be put in all category of study to ensure that the coming generation will not only improve on the work that has been done by other scientist but also to ensure that the after effect this multiplicity of innovations are reduced to 0.001%.
In the next article I will be looking broadly on the specific negative impact of science of the society at large and measure taken to ensure that its impact are brought and reduced to nothingness.
