Is the diamond found to belong to the teenager?

Yes, that's how it works here. That finds its owner. You only have to pay admission, US $ 7 for adults (about Rp75 thousands) and US $ 4 (about Rp43 thousand-an) for children aged 6-12 years.

People associate diamonds with Africa, not Arkansas. How did the diamond get here?

There was a volcanic eruption about 100 years ago that produced a crater of 85 acres. The eruption brings rocks and minerals from Earth's mantle to the surface. And, over time, erosion dumps lighter soils and leaves behind larger materials, including diamonds.

Geologists estimate diamonds exist because the soil is somewhat greenish, which means similar to the volcanic soil that is almost the same as the diamond fields in South Africa. Unfortunately when they took a sample in 1889 did not find any diamonds.

So who is the inventor of the first diamond?

The inaugural diamond was discovered by a local farmer, John Wesley Huddleston, shortly after he bought the land in 1906. No one knows the exact story and is just a legend. But one version called it: he was crawling when he saw a shining marble. He took him to a nearby river and washed it in a gold miner's pot.

Apparently it is a mica, not gold. But at the bottom of the pan he saw a smooth round stone and made it nanar. Then he took the stone to a bank in Murfreesboro. On the way, he re-discovered the diamond.

The bank officer offered him 50 cents for the precious stones, but he refused. The president and the bank then send the diamond to Little Rock and then to Tiffany's jewelry store. That's where a diamond expert says the stones are quality diamonds.

huddleston was not interested in diamond mining alone. So he sold it to an investor group.

Are there many diamonds at the time?

Yeah, it's like being a millionaire. Huddleston thought it could help him and his family. But in fact he lost a lot of profit and loss for doing some bad investments.

Indeed there are other mining businesses, but not successful. Then in 1950, there were tourist attractions that the two companies offered to pay what they dug. They then sold this land, which was then sold again to the state. Until finally this park was opened in 1972.

Is the diamond from here amazing?

The largest diamond in the US, named Uncle Sam, was discovered here in 1924. It was 40.23 carats and in the 1950s, a woman discovered a diamond of 15.33 carats.

Will this park run out of diamonds?

Not in the near future. This land was once tested by a mining company in the 1990s, they dug 182 meters and they ran out of drill bit. The test determines that we have the world's eighth largest diamond field in terms of surface area.
