Justice Gulzar Ahmed takes oath as the 27th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
Senior Supreme Court Justice Gulzar Ahmed has taken oath as Chief Justice of Pakistan today, 2019-12-21.
He is the 27th Chief Justice of Pakistan and will retire on 1st February 2022.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in the Presidency, attended by President Arif Alawi and other prominent figures including Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed was born in Karachi on February 2, 1957 and received his primary education from Gulistan School, Karachi, while completing his graduation from Government Law College, SML Law College, Karachi.
He became a lawyer on January 18, 1986, as an advocate on April 4, 1988, and as a lawyer on September 15, 2001.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed was also elected Secretary of the Sindh High Court Bar in 1999-2000.
Before becoming a judge of the Sindh High Court in 2002, he has also been named as one of the top lawyers.
He is a master at civil law, labor law, banking law, corporate law and corporate sector law. He has also been a legal adviser to large multinational companies.
Justice Gulzar became the Sindh High Court on August 27, 2002 and the Supreme Court judge on November 16, 2011.
There was no complaint against him in the Supreme Judicial Council.

He also made stringent decisions against the China-cutting occupation mafia in Karachi, after which more than 500 illegal buildings were demolished.
The PML-N was a part of the bench that decided on several important cases, including the inability of Talal Chaudhry.

His case handling rate is also commendable
