Plaques are used in numerous ways such as displaying information of a person’s achievements or to commemorate certain events, to name a few. These pieces can be the pride and joy of somebody’s life as some plaques show the hard work and sacrifice required to accomplish such honor. The creation of these plates can be done through multiple ways such as embossing, engraving, and etching.
Etched plaques are similar to engraved plaques as they are both metal plates with recessed areas where the designs are. However, the differences between the two are in the creation process as etched plates are chemically made and engraved plates are mechanically made. This gives etched plates a smoother feel which is similar to handwriting which also makes them easier to clean as they do not have sharp edges.
These metal plates, just like any other plate that displays information, needs maintenance and cleaning to stay in good condition. The upside to using etched plaques is that there is no real risk of removing the text of said plaque as they are eaten into the metal plate. This means they are more durable when compared to other types of plates.
The cleaning process involves diluting mild dishwashing liquid with equal parts of warm water. After that, use the mixture to remove any grime and grease without damaging or destroying the surface. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the plaque dry. This is recommended to avoid any scratches.
Recessed parts parts typically contain dirt and dust that have accumulated over time. These parts of the plaque should be cleaned using a soft toothbrush or a wooden cuticle stick. The cleaning process should be done carefully as to not damage the plate. The etching process helps avoid possible sharp edges in the deeper parts of the plate which helps prevent possible injuries.
Cleaning is an important part of keeping the plaque readable, in good condition and free from any corrosion. Without it the metal plaque could become corroded over time which makes it unreadable or may damage the plaque beyond repair. Since these kinds of plates usually hold important information, maintaining its condition is highly recommended. With proper care, etched plaques can display achievements and information for a lifetime.
