I was looking at the payout of Equihash mining from Nicehash (green line). This is the algorithm for Zcash.
I want to use the graph to see how much payout decrease over time. But the payout is in BTC which makes it hard to compare to hardware cost in USD. So I extracted the data and combine with the exchange rate from
.
This gives me the USD reward of mining 1 Msol/second for 1 day
This is pretty surprising to me. I always thought hardware become obsolete in a year or two. But as seen in the graph (ignoring the spike in summer), the current payout is not that much lower than at the start of the year.
I can also figure out the total miners' payout for Zcash by combining with hash rate from.
Note that this hash rate is different from blue line from nicehash graph because that blueline only counts mining through nicehash.
Since the summer spike, total Zcash payout per day roughly varies between 1.0 and 1.5 million USD.
