Ethereums volatility leads to massive trading opportunity!

As a trader I yearn for volatility, something that has been lacking on the forex and precious metals markets for some time. Of course there have been some major moves following certain events such as Brexit however this is not the volatility I am referring to.

Without volatility, trading is nothing more than gambling. This is a fact and anyone that tells you otherwise is either lying or doesn't know what they are talking about. That being said making money from trading with current market conditions is definitely possible however you need to be trading over longer term intervals.

Yes, there will be people who have made money day trading on forex since 2008, that goes without saying, but the vast majority of them will have simply been lucky. That brings us to the recent crypto events which have offered and unparalleled level of opportunity to retail traders wanting to profit on short term moves. $100+ swings in the value of Bitcoin in a matter of hours can make the experienced trader a lot of money with very minimal risk.

I try to stay clear of most technical analysis as I find it is only good for back tricking and not for real future predictions. On the other hand knowing the phycology of trading and what other traders are thinking is the key to profit.Another positive for trading crypto is that thanks to the huge volatility there is no need to leverage.

Simply trading with a starting balance of 1 BTC can lead to big profits and not to mention if you do get it wrong you still have your Bitcoin. Trading cfd's is gamble, if you're wrong, you loose. To sum up, if you only want to trade for very short time periods:

  1. Look for highly volatile instruments.
  2. Use minimal if any leverage.
  3. Avoid copy and paste technical analysis and overcomplicated trading slang.
  4. Learn the phycology of trading.
  5. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Most of all trading should be fun and enjoyable, don't trade with what you can't afford to loose!

Agree that volatility is the ice cream for trader, it is great you also mention and urge people use minimal leverage and i definitely agree. While volatility is good i also mean if you position sizing is not right, you may lose all the capital before the price bounce back.

Yes true, position sizing is important - with crypto its often a simple buy or sell with zero leverage so not as much as a concern. Very important however if you're trading forex :)

Good article...

You're 100% right.
Without volatility there is no gain.
