Quick Update

hello all you beautiful steemians

Happy Monday! I wanted to do a quick update on things so the very few of you don't think I just fell off the face of the earth.

First, I just started a new job working as a Systems Engineer at a cybersecurity company, and it's pretty intense. Not only does it take 9 hours out of my day, but I'm also drained by the time I get home.

Unfortunately, this will directly effect the amount of posts I can make since the guides and tutorial style content takes a lot of research to get right (and it still ends up flawed). Hopefully things will normalize in the next few weeks and I'll have the energy and motivation to keep making informational cryptocurrency-related content for you all.

I still plan on getting those timestamps on @Crypt0's videos as best I can, but my time over on r/ethtrader, u/AtLeastSignificant if you didn't know, is definitely going to be down.

Things that are in the pipeline

Offline Wallet Guide

I want to show you all how to safely create and use an offline "paper" wallet using MEW and other methods. I'm going over the security benefits, pros & cons, and even getting into some next-level paranoid security measures for you tin-hat wearers.

SONM ICO Review

SONM is a project I've been following for a while now, and their ICO is quickly approaching on the 15th of June. I plan on making a review of the project, team, and ICO and provide updates and recommendations on how to have the best chance of getting in as they release more information. In my opinion, this project has the capability of really giving Golem a run for it's money, so it should prove to be valuable for both traders and investors alike.

Things that may happen

Explanation of Ethereum's Security

While I was getting my Computer Engineering degree at Virginia Tech, I also completed minors in both cybersecurity and mathematics. I've done a lot of work in modular arithmetic, cryptography, discrete math, combinatorics, and other, more applied topics like symmetric-key & public-key cryptography, hash algorithms, and cryptanalysis.

If you've ever wondered "what keeps somebody from just guessing private keys and finding wallets with coins in them and stealing them?", then I potentially have the post for you! I want to go in-depth into how Ethereum remains a safe platform even though it's open-source with no secrets and all the moving parts are understood. This should help settle any of those worries about the platforms fundamental principles and all the "crypto" in cryptocurrencies.

If I decide that the in-depth version ends up being too technical and hard to read, too difficult to make, or otherwise not worth the amount of time to make it, I still plan on making a high-level version with only a few numbers :P

Other ICO reviews

I've got my eye on a few ICOs besides SONM including Bancor, Status, Kik (Kin token), and more. To do these reviews right, it takes days to do all the research on the project itself, team, and token sale. So please let me know in the comments which ICO you'd like to see me look into.

Other Ethereum / Cryptocurrency / Security Related Topics

Here's the part where I ask you, my dear readers, to let me know what you're actually interested in reading about. If there's any beginner-level crypto guides you would like or think is needed, I'm more than willing to put a lot of time into making something like that, but I'm also excited to tackle some of the more complicated bits involved in the crypto / security world.

Videos

I have most of the gear to make decent quality videos. If having me essentially narrate one of my blogs for you while you look at pretty pictures sounds great, let me know in the comments please. I'm considering doing this, but it's likely that I will write the post first and put it here on steemit so the community can critique it before I make it into a video.

That's all for now

Thanks for keeping us updated man and good luck on your new job. I know exactly what it's like to take on a position that drains the energy required to do what you really want. Gotta get them papes though. I truly hope you find that balance. Looking forward to your forthcoming posts. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on 0x if you can spare a moment and if it interests you at all. Peace.
