It may just have been a mention in the discussions between Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron, but I think this is a fantastic idea! And when would there be a better time to start it?!
As a Brit, it would be nice just to be able to get in my car and cross the Channel. I wouldn't even mind paying the bridge toll! As it is now, you have to plan ahead and buy tickets through the Channel Tunnel. You can't really say, "Oh, it's good weather today. Let's just pop across to France."
This could be one of those 'spark' ideas that has the potential to turn into something realistic and beneficial to people and the economy.
Reuters: Britain’s most prominent campaigner for leaving the European Union, Boris Johnson, has suggested building a giant bridge across the English Channel to France after Brexit, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The stories about Boris Johnson's 'idea' of a new bridge can be found here on Reuters and RT:

I don't see this happening anytime soon. The brexit negotiations harm the relations between the UK and the rest of Europe already. It will take time to heal.
