Euro 2024 Schedule - my proposal

in euro2024 •  4 years ago

With most group games being three games a day, it can be exhausting for fans, broadcasters and for the broadcaster that is hosting the euros in their country. I suggest having two games a day in the same days as we have in 2016 and 2020 so broadcasters can has fewer broadcasters per day, kickoff times can be standardised for all games in each stage of the tournament and better boost for TV broadcasts. If one broadcaster had three games, it would cause a mess but it would be relaxing with two games a day. If broadcasters had shared rights (BBC / ITV) then they can have one live game a day and have have highlights of both games late at night.

Because of the busy schedule i suggest this proposal to ease the strains of broadcaster but increase the value of the Euros and Football, Here's my suggested schedule of Euro 2024 with all times in Central European Times:

Advantages
Fans, officials and TV companies can travel to two different stadiums back to back at the same day.
More freedom for fans to do other stuff while the waiting period before a match is ongoing.
Maximises TV coverage across Europe.
UK broadcasters (BBC / ITV) would not have schedule conflicts with the News at Six because there would be no game at 6.00pm and fans can see the news if they need to, this gives BBC and ITV more viewers with the News at Six than they would have had at previous tournaments.

Disadvantages
Less games to see on TV per day for fans to see.
Three hours to wait for a game between matches per day.
Gap of 17 hours or so between the game that finishes at 10.00pm and the game that will kick off at 3.00pm the following afternoon.
