Illogicality of some evangelical thinking.

Consider these propositions:
  1. The omnipotent God is in control of human events. “Everything happens for a reason.” And God is on our side!
  2. We face an existential threat from [Communism, radical Islam, liberals, Critical Race Theory, immigrants]. We’re in the worst crisis since the Civil War! Wake up and fight before it’s too late!
  3. Authority figures, including Reagan, George W. Bush, and Trump, are hand-picked and placed in power by God.
  4. Clinton, Obama, and Biden were part of the anti-Christian Left, whose agenda threatens the end of America as we know it. Thankfully, God is for us, and against them, even if they somehow got elected contrary to God’s will.
  5. We, the white Christian majority, are victims of persecution and just “one generation away from the extinction of Christianity” if we don’t learn to stand up for our rights.
  6. God is in control! Nothing happens unless God allows it for some higher purpose!
  7. American is a Christian nation, contrary to the critics who want to dredge up the past, criticize our military (a bastion of Christian virtue), and whine about racism as if it’s still a problem for this good-hearted country.
  8. America is “racing toward judgment” because of its rampant godlessness, immorality, and abandonment of family values. God has just about had enough.
  9. God is patient and merciful toward “sinners” like Trump, who deserves honor and respect (see #3), not criticism and fault-finding. Who are you to judge? Are you perfect?
  10. God has sent natural disasters, AIDS, and terrorist attacks as judgment against LGBTQ folks and/or women who get abortions. They’re sinners, and God hates sin.
  11. Trump is God's friend. I know because God told me so. Why are you so obsessed with sin?
--This is utterly incoherent, but it’s how many conservative white evangelicals have been taught to think by fear-mongering leaders obsessed with political power.

Amen :P. When she focused exclusively on religion, Betty Bowers pointed out many such hypocrisies
