The problem of evil is a central theme in the Bible, and this is shown in all its rigor when the sacred scriptures speak of the political schism between the Kingdoms of Judah and Israel with the death of King Solomon. Just as in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve there was an original sin, so also the Kingdom of Israel with Jeroboam as its leader was born with a rebellion against God, the Kingdom of Israel abandoned the God of Moses and Abraham and accepted the worship of the golden calves built for the altars of Dan and Bethel.
This grave sin, idolatry, brought with it the curses of the law of Moses announced in the Book of Deuteronomy, and so the Kingdom of Israel quickly fell into anarchy, with one dynasty succeeding another, while the Kingdom of Judah remained faithful to the dynasty founded by King David. These facts are a demonstration that when a nation loses the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, and equanimity), they lose all future or hope, and this occurs because common sense as a capacity of the mind is born from this spiritual gift, and this spiritual affirmation can be applied to the modern world to understand why there are countries that fail and others that do not.
The existence of the Kingdom of Israel was brief, lasting approximately two centuries, and its Kingdom with its capital in Samaria was destroyed by the Assyrian Empire and its inhabitants were deported, in this way, God punished the Israelites for their sins. But the Kingdom of Judah, which later imitated the customs of the northern Kingdom of Israel, could only survive one more century, falling to the Babylonian Empire. These facts then leave a deep reflection on the importance of the science of wisdom to live. With these words the Second Book of Kings reflected on these events: "Jeroboam forced Israel away from the LORD and led them to commit a serious sin. The Israelites followed all the sins Jeroboam committed and never turned away from them. Finally, the LORD turned away from Israel as he had said he would through all his servants" 2 Kings 17:21-23.
