Dinosaurs were a diverse group of reptiles that dominated Earth for over 160 million years, from the Triassic period (about 230 million years ago) until their extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period, around 66 million years ago. They ranged in size from small, bird-like species to massive giants like Titanosaurus or Tyrannosaurus rex. Fossils of dinosaurs have been found on every continent, and their study has given scientists insights into prehistoric life and Earth's past environments.
