Paranormal investigators Ed (1926-2006) and Lorraine Warrens' (1927-2019) investigations inspired Horror movies like The Conjuring (starring Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren and Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren) and The Amityville Horror. During their 61 years of marriage, they investigated more than 10,000 cases in the US and abroad often writing about their experiences. Our dear Lorraine Warren has died peacefully in her sleep, aged 92, on Thursday night, April 19, 2019. This article is dedicated to The Warrens who are not with us anymore, but they have done a huge work so let's have a short journey with them.
Edward Warren Miney was born on September 7th, 1926 while Lorraine Rita Warren was born on January 31st, 1927. They both hail from Bridgeport, Connecticut in America. At the age of 17, Ed Warren was serving with the United States Navy during the World War II. Later, he was attending classes where he was learning how to paint. He was also a self-taught demonologist. From the time Ed was aged 5 to 12, he lived in a Connecticut house in which he experienced supernatural events.
“My father, who was a police officer at the time would often say, ‘Ed, there's a logical reason for everything that happens in this house.’ But he never came up with that logical reason," Ed said in an interview on the Warrens’ website.
The family heard pounding, rapping and footsteps, he said.
“My family would all go to bed and just around 2 to 3 o'clock in the morning, many times I would hear the closet door beginning to open up. At first I'd look into that closet and see only shapeless darkness, then slowly I'd start to see a light beginning to form and it would morph into like a ball shape, sort of like a basketball and then I'd begin to see a face in that ball.” Ed said it was the face of an old woman.
Their journey began when Lorraine realized she was blessed with the extrasensory perception ability better known as psychic abilities. The Warrens first began by making paintings which they sold and used the proceeds to start up their Paranormal investigation business. They gradually started gaining entrance to haunted places by presenting gifts of the painting of the houses they made to the owners of such houses. This helped them get entrance into the homes for their investigations. Soon they became popular, they worked on projects, with other light mediums, clergymen, and the Catholic priests who practiced exorcism. People, objects, and even some of the priests were said to be possessed.
The Warrens were Catholic and had said that background is what allows them to fight demons and to continue their supernatural investigations.
The Warrens founded the New England Society for Psychic Research in Monroe, Connecticut, in 1952 to investigate suspected hauntings.
The Warrens' Occult Museum founded by the couple claims to be the oldest and only museum of its kind. The museum houses an array of haunted artifacts and items used in occult activities and other cursed objects.
