This girl is on fire!

Early morning launch on our jetski we witness the reason for our villages name, Ponta do Ouro meaning the point of gold. Golden rays start breaking through the clouds shining over the ocean. I knew it was going to be a good day.

Now being summer in Mozambique we were expecting certain species to be caught and know exactly what lures to use for the different ways to fish.

We usually start by trolling rapalahs from Atlantis reef to another reef named Pinnacles.

Not 5 min into the troll I hooked a beautiful specimen of a Couta but unfortunately he pulled the hook just before we could gaf him. It was a bit disappointing but we forget our losses fast and move on.

The reef was teaming with fish and there were plenty sharks around as we found out when we went on double up with bus bonito's. Mark lost his to the taxman but I managed to land mine safely.

The water was crystal clear with divers reporting upto 30 meter visibility underwater. We could see schools of bait fish passing under the ski. We also had some close encounters with a big tiger and a hammer head shark.

We decided to change tactics and changed to small buck tail lures for jigging. I was using a new black and silver and Mark used a uv yellow buck tail.

I was extatic to catch a rusty job fish and two green job fish for the table. Mark caught a couple of tomato rock Cod that was safely released as they are protected in our marine reserve.

While sorting out my new trace I saw a couple of remora's below us and I started making splashing sound on the water with my hand. They are so curious they just swim right up to the ski. Having being taxed I had some bonito to feed it and was surprised the the little creature was accepting food from my hand.

Our drift was already over the reef to we had to move back to the top of the reef. As we moved the remora stayed in the ski's wake and followed us around for some more tasty bonito morsels. It was such a amazing experience. My water puppy.

We had a good 8 hours of fishing before calling it a day and I must admit I live for days like these.

It really makes you feel alive and in touch with nature.

Being the lady on the ski and the only one to to bring fish home is also a wonder feeling of achievement.

It's my passion ❤️🤙🎣
