I think I looked a bit too serious in the gym today :)
But I was crushing it.
I'm so surprised, especially because it was after my (midday) F1 race birthday party.
I did stop eating/drinking at 20:00, as I do now (I'm doing intermittent fasting), but I had plenty of beer and burgers before that.
I then had my 16 hours fast (including gym session) and felt fine.
Today my dad was here and he was craving junk food from the local snack bar.
It's the ultimate food sin, but it's so good from time to time.
Now...I'm very much convinced that to anyone who is not Dutch this looks horrendous.
It's fries, a frikandel special (some stick made from god knows what meat, nobody in the Netherlands really wants to know) drenched in mayo and a Kaas souffle (a fried thing with cheese inside) and a peanut sauce.
It did hit the spot I must admit.
I'm not 100% if I'm doing the fasting right all the time.
They say you can eat whatever you want in your food window and that's what I do.
But I'm not sure if they mean this.
I roll with it for now and then the scale can show me what's what.
(Admittedly most of the time I eat pretty healthily)
So far I only lost weight and got stronger and fitter, some I'm willing to take a chance.

I have cousins from Netherland and when i read frikandel it wakes up memories from my child age. Neither do i want to know what meat they are using to make it but i'm ok to eat it.
Yes fasting says that you can eat everything you want in your time window but after you fed your body with a good meal and took all the necessary proteins, vitamins etc it needs.

Intermittent fasting is such a fantastic tool for health, including weight loss. While it isn't magic (eating "anything" in your feeding window that exceeds the amount of calories your body uses at rest + any activity will lead to weight gain) it makes calorie restrictions so much more manageable. While I believe calorie diaries are not sustainable, it is necessary to stay net average below what your body needs, so it feeds on excess body fat. Without weight loss goals, fasting allows your body the opportunity to regularly remove damaged cells and also makes available the resources of energy your body uses to digest.
The "why" behind it is an awesome display of the human body, but you don't need to be a nutrition or biology expert to understand the health progress people make with this way of life. Congrats on starting the journey!

Ah man, this looks so good! (Dutchie here :P). Since the beginning of this year, I stopped eating meat. But sometimes when I feel like eating junk food, I really want stuff like kroket and frikandel 🙈
I also did sports today, after which I ate a big ass veggie burger. It's not very good to do after sports... But sometimes it just has to be done :)
And btw, I did IF and ultra low carb for half a year. It is extra important to eat healthy with IF. It's good to get all the necessary nutrients, and since you eat fewer times, you should take as much as needed of those while you eat. I didn't when I started and got colds more often than usual until I realized I had to eat healthier. After I took care of that it was all good :|)

By your description Dutch junk food looks like a potential major cause of death, but at least it looks pretty tasty compared to Finnish junk food.

It works differently for everyone but as long as the wrong food isn’t too much and consistent you should be fine. I am doing both IF and low carb and am reaching my goal weight where I plan to experiment with continuing IF but being flexible with some more food (carbs).

Sorry yeh, I edited the reply 😀 its quite easy huh?! I've cut down to not even getting that hungry anymore and have started eating alot of gea butter and coco fat blended into hot drinks andmy body is liking it alot with the eating less!

I was onboard up until the peanut sauce. Not that I don't like peanut sauce, but I just really can't see it working with the rest of the food there. I used to really love the McRib sandwich from McDonald's until I saw what the meat was made out of. Now I never eat them!
