My account is not compromised! Beware of phishing links!

in exyle •  6 years ago  (edited)

My account is not compromised.

Word is users are spreading phishing links using my profile picture (It's not me, it's just a picture, look at the rep it says 75).

Don't click these links:

Example:

@surfermarly mistakenly gave away her Masterkey after clicking this link! (A login window appeared).

NEVER USE YOUR MASTERKEY EVER! ONLY USE IT TO CHANGE YOUR OTHER KEYS.

USE YOUR POSTING KEY FOR POSTING AND YOUR ACTIVE KEY FOR TRANSFERRING.

Witness Arcange made a great post about the hack. Read it here

I found this out about 3 hours ago, wanted to reply, but pushed on the picture :-S

As long as the website where it leads us isn't putting a virus om my divises I'm gona be oké!

It's likely just scraping usernames/passwords, but it would be a good idea to run a virus scan.

Or check the URL on www.virustotal.com and see what they get.

wtf is going on? How do they manage to use an account with the name exyle and a 75 rep score?

Its just a picture.

I’m a little confused...

But I guess it’s a tremendously well-done phishing attempt

@exyle its more like this LOL, just a short edit in windows paint :
fghhh.jpg

I just checked it out, it is indeed an image that was posted, which made it look as if @exyle reacted to the previous reaction. Indeed very crafty phishing, but luckily discovered now. Too bad for @surfermarly her 90+ liquid steem that got nicked...

Indeed, I was just asking myself the same question... That is not good news!

It's a picture. Nowadays we gotta be extra paranoid about stuff. I mean... What are the odds @exyle come and inform you about a "content theft"? It just doesn't sound right.

Gotta admit, that's a clever scam. Pity being clever doesn't make up for being a lowlife scammer.

My exact thoughts. If only they use their intelligence towards something good.

Such a shame that people use their creativity for bad instead of good.... Thanks for the heads up big homie!!!!!

Resteemed, let's exterminate those creatures....

Yea, the image is in png format with transparent background. So it works on both night mode and not night mode.

It is so unfortunate that people part of such a great community will resort to this to take advantage of users not paying attention. Fortunately, the platform gives options to reduce this risk by staking and using the savings feature while you can recover your account.

Thank you for letting us know, @exyle! You have to be careful because it's a scam. They are surely taking advantage of this strange moment that is happening steemit and all. Let's be alert and denounce!

Wow, that is a fairly clever way to try to imitate someone. Jesus lol
Thanks for notifying us!

Thank you for the heads up @exyle. I will let you know if I see one. I had something similar over the weekend but not with your name.

There are spammers/scammers/thieves/pond scum everywhere. We just need to be vigilant and not use master keys...

Holy smokes.. This Phishing is smart, very smart.

People need to be aware that hacking can be social too. And this is a perfect example.

how did they make it look like your account then ?

Dat is Klote Marc, ik heb geresteemed! Probeer nog wel te genieten van je vakantie 😬

@exyle I will resteem
BTW: @surfermarly just commented in Steem-UA chat that she did not give her Master Key and her account is still comprimised.

Ohh! My God,
I have no words dears sir how much worried I was now all the doubts cleared.
Stay safe and spread awareness for the safety of others.

God bless you dear Sir.

Thanks for reporting the scam /phishing strategy.

That's devious and evil.

@surfermarly mistakenly gave away her Masterkey after clicking this link! (A login window appeared).

Didnt she fall for that one once before, jes...

Thank you information master :)

the scammers are on the increasing side now a days time to be safe with the links :(

There should be an automatic identifier when an image is displayed in a comment. For example, the word image should appear beneath the fake comment.

The scammer has to hope the person is in day mode, in night mode all the images would be the wrong colour and look silly.

It is good to follow close and
see how our fellow steemians
behave. Thanks for the reminder.
Keep on postin'

Thanks for your kind info

They are really clever! But an evil one!
