in f1 •  5 years ago

It is time for two consecutive race weekends starting with French Grandprix at Paul Ricard.
Paul Ricard circuit located at , Le Castellet, near Marseille is considered as one of the safest track to race, with three long straights and 15 corners. French Grandprix is the 8th race in the calendar and all seven races so far was won by Mercedes. Mercedes are considered to be the favorites to win the race on Sunday and the competition will be between the two Mercedes. Renault and Honda has brought their engine upgrades to France and it doesn't seems to be enough to challenge with Mercedes and Ferrari.

Practice 2
In practice 2 most of the teams were struggling with the tyres which is hindering pure racing as teams are struggling to bring it to optimum working range. Bottas was the fastest man in this session, ahead of Hamilton and Leclerc by 0.424sec and 0.649sec. From the data it was found that Mclaren's performance has improved and Lando Norris looks promising.

Practice 3
The order seems to be jumbled up after evaluating practice 3, there will be good competition between Renault and McLaren. It is hard to say as Renault and McLaren have varying advantage in different sectors of the circuit. The advantages that Ferrari has at Sector 1 and 2 seems to be cancelled by Mercedes in sector 3.
Hence it will be Mercedes at the front row in Qualifying.
