WhatsApp Co-Founder Brian Acton Tells Everyone to Delete Facebook

in facebbo •  7 years ago  (edited)

You recall that 4 years ago (2014) Facebook bought WhatsApp Instant messaging app at a disclosed price of $16 billion, making it one the highest purchase ever made in the technology market.

WhatsApp Co-Founder Brian Acton Tells Everyone to Delete Facebook

Now after the deal was completed, Jan Koum continued his work with the company, but co-founder Brian Acton quit earlier this year to start his own foundation. In his recent tweet, Acton told his followers to delete Facebook.

Acton, who is worth $6.5 billion, tweeted it is time, adding the hashtag #deletefacebook. The tweet came after a bruising five-day period for Facebook that has seen regulators swarm and its stock price plunge following concerns over data privacy in the wake of revelations about Cambridge Analytica’s misuse of user data.

It is worth mentioning that Brian Action wouldn't be the first to tweet against the company after leaving. Other executives were seen to have done the same in the recent past.

For instance, last year, former head of growth Chamath Palihapitiya caused a firestorm after saying “we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works.” Other former executives to express regrets include Sean Parker, Justin Rosenstein, and investor Roger McNamee.
