You can only archive your profile. Its "removed" nobody can see or access it but you can bring it back by logging in. Thats the extent of removing your fb account.

    Hi. I just posted a link in my comments to a site with instructions on how to permanently a FB account and content. I'll give it a try and see if it works. I am determined not to let FB keep my data if I don't want them to.
