Today was the day of looking at the ads and seeing which ones were working and which ones didn't.
It was quite interesting as the results were all over the place but there was one main trend. The main majority of people purchasing were women, out of the 15 purchases 2 were men and 13 were women.
So now my target demographic is women for this.
Or so I thought.
My friend who has made a lot of money from Facebook ads and his Shopify store told me that I had it all wrong. The method which I was doing Free + shipping method which is you give an item away for free and they only pay for shipping was all wrong and I would screw up the Facebook algorithm.
He said I could even get my Facebook account banned for this method due to the negative feedback from users.
Basically, Facebok would be looking for freebie seekers and a lot of clickers. I immediately stopped all of my campaigns and now it is back to square one.
He told me I should run a campaign where you sell something at the full price and give a discount such as 50% off, 20% off, buy 1 get one free, buy this and get a t shirt free.
To this point, I had spent $230 and made $154, which of that $154 $92.63 was profit. So I was down 62% ROI and 2 and a half times my budget, not a great start, unhappy but know I have potential to make this work.
He did say that I just need to tweak a few things and I could kill it in this campaign, and I know that is possible with paid advertising. It only takes one ad to make you a huge success.
I will go back to the drawing board, look for relevant products to sell in the angle I'm working from on Ali Express, see what is hot on Facebook and move forward from there.
My feelings today were of frustration and disappointed that I couldn't make it right but at the same time, I know I am only one ad away from a huge success.
