Mark Zuckerberg's desire to learn more about the digital currency fueled speculation of cryptocurrency applications like Bitcoin on his world's largest social network.
Recently, the Facebook boss wrote a fairly long status about his resolutions in the new year. In his writings, he admitted interested in learning more about encryption and cryptocurrency.
"I'm interested in going deeper and learning the positive and negative aspects of this technology and how best to use it in our service," Zuckerberg wrote via his Facebook status.
The phrase also invites many responses about the effects that can be generated if Facebook really adopt digital currency.
One of them came from Jonathan Ben Shimon, CEO and Founder of Matchpool. a company that combines cryptocurrency with social activities.
"This idea will be useful: Facebook can use cryptocurrency as an incentive for users who create content through the platform, but he (Zuckerberg) needs to get experts to implement it in a decentralized way," he said,
Then, Clement Thibault, senior analyst at Investing.com, admitted not surprised if big companies like Facebook, Google, and Microsoft, began to glance at cryptocurrency.
"With their interest in facilitating the rate of transactions, plus the attention and huge amount of money in cryptocurrency by 2017, the digital currency is becoming a targetted thing," he said.
He added, if the implementation of cryptocurrency by Facebook become a reality, it will encourage the use of digital currency massively in the wider community.
"With more than two billion active users each month, you could say, Facebook can control the world community in adopting new things," said Thibault.
"It's interesting to see how Facebook is looking for loopholes in implementing decentralized peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions," he concluded.
