When Jesus begins the preaching of the Kingdom of God he meets the doctors of the Law of Moses, who were represented by two main groups the Pharisees and Sadducees, while some like Nicodemus view this new doctrine with curiosity, most reject it totally.
Jesus warns the doctors of the law: "You judge according to the flesh, I judge no one", John 8:15. To judge according to the flesh is to believe ourselves better than others, condemning our neighbor without mercy.
The doctors of the law are also responsible for the oppression and for hiding the key of science (wisdom) from the people: "Whoe to you experts in the Law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering", Luke 11:52.
This is why Jesus warns his disciples about the danger of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees: "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Matthew 16:6
Jesus considers the teachings of the priests to be wrong, particularly when they want to stone a prostitute, the scriptures are clear:
"At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, ´Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?´ They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ´Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.´ Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there." John 8:1-9
In this case the law opposes the wisdom of God, the teachings of Jesus bear fruits of life, whereas the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees bear fruits of death. According to the christian faith, the teachings of Jesus are not based on rigid and immovable rules, but on a life of mercy (compassion, amability, affability, benevolence, benedicence) and piety (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability)
