The faith of Nicodemus: For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him. John 3:2

In the Gospel of John, one of the most remarkable spiritual moments is the encounter between Nicodemus and Jesus.
In the gospels it is not clear if Nicodemus was a disciple or a follower of Jesus, but Nicodemus demonstrated his faith on several occasions and one of these situations was when he visited Jesus at night to receive the knowledge of the Gnosis.
John's gospel is almost a gnostic gospel, and eternal life and gnosis play a central role in this evangelist's revelation; the gospel of John is not a synoptic gospel and is markedly different from the others.
Nicodemus was an educated and instructed man, a deep connoisseur of the law of Moses, the gospel tells us that he was a Pharisee (John 3:1), curious about the teachings of Jesus, he had a mysterious and interesting dialogue with the Lord at night.
With these words he presented himself to Jesus: "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him" John 3:2.
And so Nicodemus and Jesus began a dialogue about the spiritual rebirth, and this because of the progressiveness and expansiveness of the Kingdom that acts until making men similar to God. The Kingdom of God can be compared to the bare tree that sprouts and bears fruit or like the worm that turns into a butterfly.
This is how Jesus spoke to Nicodemus about that hidden treasure: "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again" John 3:3.
But Nicodemus did not understand and think in more earthly terms: "´How can someone be born when they are old?´ Nicodemus asked. ´Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!´" John 3:4.
Jesus explained to Nicodemus that spiritual things are different from earthly things, and that the spiritual and the earthly play different roles in man. The Christian faith as Jesus explained it to Nicodemus is the understanding of spiritual realities through the second baptism, the baptism in fire and the spirit; because by this baptism we receive the supernatural life, the eternal life.
