It is indeed interesting, how most of the people hide their brokenness and covering them up with anything other than humility.
Why humility?
It is humbling to admit one’s brokenness for we were taught since we were young that broken things and ugly ones were synonymous. However, the LORD Jesus Christ didn’t share the same belief for He sees beauty in broken vessels. He makes beautiful what the world deemed unattractive.
If He knows the extent of our scars and flaws, and loves us just the same, then I will rejoice in my brokenness.
My heart is broken for the needs unmet, for the justice unrendered, for the coldness of the treatment of friends, for the separated families, for the loved ones who are blinded by the traditions of men, for the chasing of empty promises of those who think that they are after “love”, for those whose foundation of hope lie on perishables. But I thank God, for through the Holy Spirit, He is filling me with hope to live on and trust in Him.
If all of these- families, friends, career, possessions, ambitions and dreams will return to dust and be gone, then I rather be spent and consumed for the glory of the Eternal One.
I would rather be broken for now than be broken in eternity. And so, I will celebrate in my tears, questions and sometimes doubts that lead me to prostrate myself and kneel down to Jesus, and confess that I am a heap of dry bones if the Holy Spirit is not in me. Though there are and will be obstacles but the promises of God far outweigh the present troubles. Most important of all, the One who promised is Faithful.
I would rather be broken for now than be broken in eternity.
