When Caleb was a young man, he and Joshua were part of an extraordinary spy mission to determine the strength of the enemy before God's people moved into the land that God has promised them. Of the 12 spies, only Caleb and Joshua presented a positive report to Moses.
They said; we are well able to take the land...
The other 10 spies said; "No, Moses there are giants in the land and the opposition are too strong."
The majority tried to talk Moses and the rest of the children of Israel out of pressing forward into the blessings that God promised them. They were too willign to settle for second best and to remain where they are for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, the group of negative thinkers never did make it into the promised land. They spent the next 40years wandering around aimlessly in a desert and eventually most of them died with there dreams still in them, as God raised up an entire new generation of people.
By then Caleb was 85yrs but he hadn't given up on his dream God had placed in his heart. A lot of people that age will be sitting back in rocking chair, thinking about the good old days but not Caleb. He kept himself stirred up and was in shape. He told Joshua that he was still as strong as he was when the promise first came to him.
Caleb went back to the exact same place; others fear to go that had about 5 giants living in it. He could have found a place less fortified and more accessible but Caleb said "No, I don't care how many obstacles are there but God give me this place, I'm going to keep pressing and I'm going to keep believing until I see the promised fulfilled.
That's the kind of attitude we need to have. We give up too easily.
"Well, I didn't get the promotion I wanted; I guess is not going to happen."
"My husband and I can't get along, I guess is over."
No, keep pressing forward and keep believing. Keep yourself stirred up. You've got the gifts, the talent and the dreams. Don't allow complacency to keep u from seeing God's promises fulfilled in your life.
