Well this was a painful read.
Background, Tina Fontaine was an aboriginal youth that passed away in the Foster System.
But... during the investigation the parents went through the Child Advocate, who has the legal authority to look through and force the system to hand over details.
One of the revelations that came out is that her Mother was also a Victim of Social Services... she was in the system and put in the home of a predator.
Point form... here’s a person that knows how horrible a world her daughter was facing; and they still forced her into it against the mother’s wishes.
What’s worse, and this is supposition on my part, but any reason they had for removing the child from her parent was probably a result of her time in social services.
There’s probably a reason the Mother wanted the details of her experience out there, it sheds some major light on how many generations this system can damage.
She’s not the only one, I brought up a few months ago the story of a mother who lost her child in bc to the system... because the Grandmother has been in social services.
Thankfully a judge fixed it, after several months of putting the family and child through.
There needs to be a few more fixes.
